Steve Irwins Zoo

After a night in Mooloolaba we headed off to Steve Irwin’s zoo. What a treat. WE had seen the zoo  in Sydney but this one was special. It  was run by Steve and his family  while he was alive and continues to be. His daughter Bindie is certainly a star. The zoo is built like a natural habitat with beautiful vegetation. The great part about it was the Australian wildlife – kangaroos which we walked with, petted and fed; koalas that we could pet, wombats, kimoda dragon, crocodiles, many birds, etc. We watched a crocodile show  and  saw elephants being fed. The best part was watching the crocodile keepers mow and whipper snip inside the crocodile cages while we ate lunch.  It was  quite a show as one  person watched while the other worked. Since the croc had a nest she was quite aggressive. It was a wonderful day followed by a 3 hr drive to Gin Gin paty way to our next stop at an outgack farm.

  1. Great photos, I can just imagine your adventure with your descriptions. We just heard that a Cyclone is headed your way, so beware! We have a bit more snow around here. More adventures for you guys I'm sure. Thanks for the blogs!
